AMobile Launches Ruby 8 RFID Tablet Featuring MediaTek and Impinj Gen2X

AMobile Launches Ruby 8 RFID Tablet Featuring MediaTek and Impinj Gen2X

AMobile Solutions is working with Impinj and MediaTek to bring RFID-enabled mobile computing solutions to enterprise and retail markets. By combining AMobile’s rugged mobile device design, Impinj Gen2X RAIN RFID capability, and the MediaTek MT8781 IoT Modem 4G platform, the Ruby 8 is designed to help retailers and frontline operators improve item-level visibility, mobile data capture, and real-time service efficiency.
The Ruby 8 RFID Tablet is a rugged 8-inch mobile device designed to support RFID-enabled operations, mobile POS applications, and real-time field data capture. With its 8-inch display, Ruby 8 offers a compact and portable form factor that is easier to hold and operate with one hand compared with larger tablets, making it suitable for frontline workers who need to scan, check inventory, process transactions, or capture field data while moving through retail stores, warehouses, logistics facilities, and service environments.

Ruby 8 adopts the MediaTek MT8781 to deliver a balanced combination of performance, connectivity, and power efficiency for mobile field operations. Built on a 6nm process and an octa-core CPU architecture with 2 Arm Cortex-A76 performance cores and 6 Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, MT8781 helps Ruby 8 maintain smooth responsiveness across RFID reading, inventory workflows, data synchronization, mobile POS, and multitasking scenarios while supporting the power efficiency required for long operating hours in the field.
For connectivity, MT8781 supports 4G/LTE Cat-13, enabling frontline teams to maintain real-time data upload, cloud system synchronization, and mobile transaction workflows even when fixed Wi-Fi is not available. For retail and logistics operations, stable 4G LTE connectivity can help shorten inventory update cycles, improve field service efficiency, and support consistent operations across multiple sites.

MT8781 also integrates powerful graphics, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and multi-GNSS capabilities, supporting Ruby 8 across mobile user interfaces, peripheral connectivity, positioning services, and diverse field applications. Combined with AMobile’s rugged product design, Ruby 8 serves as a reliable mobile work platform for retail, warehouse, logistics, and field service teams.
Impinj Gen2X is an enhancement to the RAIN RFID standard that speeds inventory counts, increases tag read range, declutters the environment, protects consumers and inhibits tag and item counterfeiting. With Gen2X, Ruby 8 helps enterprises improve operational efficiency across retail inventory management, smart checkouts, warehouse operations, logistics tracking, asset management, and field service applications
